filda tires | daily logo design Originally uploaded by filthEdesign oh, ya know...giving 99 designs a try again. i got cocky with the freelance work i've been doing. but the reality is, a creative brief that you can work on WITH the client and a back and forth to develop the design is not something that a contest site can provide. and then of course you're dealing with people who don't know how to talk about design or what they want or like or don't like in design terms so you get feedback like "not what we're looking for".....um...okay, gonna give me a clue as to what you ARE looking for then? will it occur to them that if no one is providing anything close to what they want that maybe it's their brief and inability to communicate that is the problem...not the designers? though at some point someone will stumble up on it, supply the magic "right answer" and they'll feel vindicated for all the non-feedback they gave...oh well, know thy...

The "logo" they chose is less a logo and more a repeated keystroke in Arial Narrow, but hey, the eye of the beholder and all that...who am I to define art...or design... Maybe I'm just a sore loser, but first take a look at the "winner" :) lol :) HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

art@last Originally uploaded by filthEdesign 2 for 1 today :) I have posted this before, but I still like it :) It was for a local contest. All of my submissions lost. The design they did choose was not so much a design as someone let their grand kid loose in Word, but c'est la vie. It can bring up some negative feelings when the flags fly for final fridays, but you still have to appreciate the idea that art deserves time and reverence. It's just ironic that it wasn't considered when choosing a winning logo :)

They originally said NO NEEDLES...and someone commented as such on the finished contest (as if they can't change their minds). The winning design utilized a machine needle, not a hand sewing needle.

I think it was too subtle for the client as they thought it looked too much like an onion :) Might have been stronger in pink, but I was going for a little more leather and whips than the client was :)
