been working to get ready for the last art show/sale of the season: LOLA GIANT let me know if you need directions or more info - time is noon to 7pm 12/20/09 trying to figure out ways to frame things inexpensively - i think people prefer to buy their art ready to hang and my unframed work can require some serious consideration regarding the frame. so my wonderful husband has been experimenting - i thought my eyeleted pieces could be "pinned" to a board with a hanger attached to the back pretty easily...it was easy in theory, but in execution required surface treatments and a closer look at the hardware used to attach the work. they look awesome! he painted the boards red and then wiped it and distressed it a little so it looks a bit like a caricature of raw meat and the works in the domestic | domesticated series that i call "the triage set" look fabulous attached with rough, black carpet tacks. i have those in 5x7 & 8x10 - i hope they sell like mad because i lo...

social networking is the best!

i've reconnected with an amazing number of friends from my past on facebook . it's cool to see how many people you've impacted and remember the impact such great people had on you :) a friend gave me the names of a bistro/gallery in desoto, kansas that shows local artists and she has connections to a gallery in houston. i'm hoping i will have the opportunity to show at both venues...only wish i was selling enough art to be a full-time artist - it's hard to find the time to coordinate art shows when i'm working a graphic design day job, raising a 13 year old, spending time with my husband in addition to actually making the art... but here are the links to the 2 great venue opportunities :) bleu tomato bering and james

art house co-op | atlanta, ga

the scavenger project exhibition and book release click on the link for details, maps, times, etc. if you live in atlanta, ga i would suggest you check out the show. i will have at least one piece in the show and one in the book so you should look for my work. the art house does a great thing with their projects that call for participation around the world. to quote their website -- we build projects and communities. you don't have to be an artist to participate, but as an artist, i think it's a great thing. they usually have a show (sometimes traveling) and sometimes a book that documents the project at the end of each project. i only discovered them through a co-sponsored project with design for mankind recently and january 23rd will be the exhibit of the project - the scavenger project. i'm excited to see the book and only wish i lived closer to the ATL or had some airline miles to burn :) anyway, hopefully the shows a great success! :)
