another installment of the TO-DO list-apalooza
Feeling overwhelmed again... I missed the deadline for the Art Guild Holiday Art Fair . I could have asked for a late spot, artists are often late :) but I decided not to... LOLA GIANT will be happening again at Van Go Mobile Arts for TWO days! :) December 11th & 12th. So that works out I think...the ladies of lawrence artwork group have pretty good local connections, therefore media coverage and word of mouth. Plus it more closely fits my style. I do still currently have my Alphabetical Order piece on display at the Mulvane Art Museum through January 16, 2011. I am also going to enter it into the MyArtSpace Scope Miami 2010 Art Show happening at the same time as the Miami Art Basel which would be great publicity....and just great to show more work if accepted. I also need to get some more laced into the frame pieces of the "Domestic | Domesticated" series ready for sale/show. And I have a ton of wood blocks for caulk xerox transfers...still going to try la...

Excuse me while I peruse your blog...
he's a great kid...and the pre-teen years are indeed nuts! SO moody! SO embarrassed by the coolest parents in the world! head in the phone texting...always! but he's kind and when he's not trying desperately to walk 10 steps in front of us like he doesn't know us, he actually pays attention to others and opens doors for people and stuff like that :)
as for lawrence - i love it...i've never lived in the ci-tay, but the atmosphere here is great...emphasis on education...summers are a nice reprieve from the college kids...the university draws a lot of people from different cultures...i love walking around downtown - the parks are great - the public schools are great (i totally recommend hillcrest elementary). not sure if you'd be a sahm (there is a community theatre) :) but the university has a great daycare program (might want to get on the waiting list now).
the cost of living is higher than topeka or kansas city, but to me it's so worth it...
you can get around town pretty easily on a bike or a motor scooter...
a blue oasis in a sea of red :) there are still churches on every block, but i don't know anyone owned by religion...
we bought a house that we're rebuilding from the slab/studs up so we don't go out as much as we used to, but i do love living in lawrence :)
the downsides are that ku owns the town - it can be hard getting a job there if you're not legacy ku royalty it seems and the fact that there are well educated, qualified college kids who will work any job for seven dollars and fifty cents an hour keeps the going pay pretty low unless you're in an uber professional position, but if you're not connected to the university chances are you're commuting to KC or topuka...
anyway, that's my take on lawrence :)
