happy valentine's day

my work is too "edgy" and "hip" for the gallery I spoke with on Friday. sort of a bittersweet comment. a compliment really, I was just hoping for some representation in a storefront downtown...the owner did suggest another retail venue though so I'll try there next...

I sent an email about a year ago maybe to eve ensler on her V-Day site... I thought she might like my work...that it could represent the efforts to end violence against women. I got an "out of office" auto-reply...but nothing after that... she probably never saw my work...

I think about who to send work to as gifts, ideally for publicity...but I haven't yet...

Sometimes it is disappointing to be so far out in front of the crowd...but just keep going.

D&D over 40

Never in a bazillion years did I ever think I'd play D&D . Or any TTRPG . And it's possible I only like it because I'm smitten with one of the nerdiest humans I've ever met, but whatever, I don't think that's what it's _all_ about. It's so creative and reinforcing some of the things I identified in therapy that I need to work on and I can just imagine sitting around into my 90s with a group of solid individuals I call friends and playing these games. It gets more fun the more I play! I don't recommend waiting till you're 46 to start playing if you have _any_ interest. The thing that struck me early on is that I've spent my whole life trying not to look stupid which is ultimately self-censorship. I think women probably do it more than men and I can't even imagine how much it happens for people with other othernesses.
