LHS Winter Sports - probably the first of many write-ups in the paper :) eh, biased mom, but he's a smart and talented kid young man :)

So excited! John applied, was interviewed and accepted as 1 of the 20 delegates for the Hiratsuka, Japan Sister City exchange program thought the City of Lawrence!!! They will be going during the Tanabata Festival in 2011 for a total of 10 days and then 2 weeks later we will host 2 Japanese exchange students for 5 days :) I'm so proud and a little jealous! :)

Got an upper respiratory infection that was a total tribute to when I used to smoke! Horrible...the cough is still lingering. The feeling in my chest actually made me crave cigarettes...the lengths I would go to as a smoker to continue to be able to smoke through bronchitis - not cool...and I am still very happy that I'm not a smoker anymore. But I've basically been in a horizontal position with sudaphed, mucinex, nyquil and a box of kleenex within arms reach for the last week and a half. Luckily my husband was able to take care of me though over the weekend he was struck down too :(. I'm feeling significantly better which is good, though the coughing gives me a headache and I still keep the kleenex close. Life keeps rolling though... John has a swim meet this weekend, DII championships...hoping he qualifies for DIs in 2 weeks. I should probably sign up to officiate for a session or 2... The weekend in between is First Friday for March. I will be in an art market at ...

my kid is now 13, so this was 10 years ago :) he was 3 and it was his first halloween trick-or-treating where he dressed up and went from house to house. we went to oklahoma to visit my aunt and uncle and their kids who are only a few years older than my son. john was dressed as cat in the hat - with a hat that was as tall as he was :) adorable! and our cousin, alex, was dressed up as barbie princess. she was 7 i think. anyway, we got ready to hit the street and alex put her mask on and went over to john and he FAH-REAKED! OUT! it was hilarious :) she'd take the mask off and he was fine, put it on and he was in the fetal position in tears! i'm sure he doesn't remember it, i'll have to remind him :) it was one of the best halloweens ever :) he was always so friendly and comfortable, and my aunt was very familiar with her neighbors so that was cool because john would walk up to every door and just walk right inside :) i tried looking for an image of the mask, can't fi...
