i'm having a hard time keeping up these days...i currently have work hanging in 3 galleries, which is awesome i just have trouble keeping track of drop-off and pick-up days...i have 3 more shows i want to submit to - sent an e-mail off to one asking if they'd consider my piece a sculpture or if it's disqualified because it's too deep...it can hang on the wall or sit on a pedestal though the visual interest is from the front...but it fits the "emergence" theme perfectly...i'll submit it...
i need to put together an artist resume...i have my corporate day job graphic designer resume, but i don't have a list of everywhere i've shown in the past few years...which it doesn't get interesting until this year :)
i also need to print some business cards to include with my work that i'm going to have for sale at bon bon atelier in westport as soon as i can get over there to give them some! :) very exciting stuff...
and then on top of that there was the 3-day swim meet extravaganza last weekend which left me unsure of where or who i am! and then morning swim practices 6:30 which i have to say my wonderful husband is doing the taking and i the picking up...but today i actually got into work before 7am :) going to leave at 3:30 which is cool (except for the monsoon going on outside!)...
and then last week was the photo shoot in dallas - went really well...haven't gotten the photos back yet, but we took over 700 and i think most of them are great! got a lot of positive feedback from my bosses, hopefully when the economy is finally out of the sh**ter i will be rewarded accordingly...
tomorrow i have a 6:20 AM flight out of MCI which is sort of not cool except for the fact that i'm returning and should be back in town by dinner time...going to check out a trade show booth that i set up the art for - i didn't design the booth, but i developed the graphics/imagery that will be on the booth. will be taking photos, doing a walk-through and just making sure it's ready to go for the big trade show in july...
what else...
oh i've started to further develop my next series - it's all still in my head, but it's moving along...i need to go to an antique store and get a rag doll type doll to photograph in provocative positions to electronically manipulate into line drawings - should be pretty cool...then carve the alphabet in linoleum blocks :)
i'm also reading tweak by nic sheff - and i'm about 2/3 of the way through and there's too much book left for him to not have another relapse...and john mentioned that he starts doing crack and i haven't gotten that far so yeah...another relapse. i have beautiful boy reserved at the library :) i really like nic's writing style. saw a brief interview on CNN at the DFW airport but couldn't really hear it - i think nic is coming out with another book and he looks really good...so makes the book easier to read...though the fact that he was a pretty regular kid with a pretty regular home life and got into what he got into leaves me a little worried...but my kid has read tweak as well and it adds more to our dialogue on alcoholism and addiction so hopefully he won't end up in a bad way...
well enough about that :) i have to finish 3 fliers though i'm thrilled to be leaving at 3:30 today! :) but will have to go home and get ready to fly to indianapolis tomorrow...way too early...
