emerald | daily logo design

Image
emerald | daily logo design Originally uploaded by filthEdesign This is not actually a logo of course, but I spent a while last night drawing and coloring it in illustrator and I'm pretty thrilled with how it turned out! It is an element in a logo design I'm working on...not sure if it will end up in the final design, but it's a nice graphic for my personal library at the very least. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

(art)see | daily logo design

Image
(art)see Originally uploaded by filthEdesign This was another submission to the Downtown Lawrence Art D(something) for the Final Friday events. The "logo" they chose is less a logo and more a repeated keystroke in Arial Narrow, but hey, the eye of the beholder and all that...who am I to define art...or design... Maybe I'm just a sore loser, but first take a look at the "winner" :) lol :) HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

art@last | daily logo design

Image
art@last Originally uploaded by filthEdesign 2 for 1 today :) I have posted this before, but I still like it :) It was for a local contest. All of my submissions lost. The design they did choose was not so much a design as someone let their grand kid loose in Word, but c'est la vie. It can bring up some negative feelings when the flags fly for final fridays, but you still have to appreciate the idea that art deserves time and reverence. It's just ironic that it wasn't considered when choosing a winning logo :)

Image
pow pow | daily logo design Originally uploaded by filthEdesign Yeah, it's not necessarily great for the logo, but I like have a revolver in my vector library :) ...along with my other guns. It's fun, but it's another loser...

it's sew easy | daily logo design

Image
its's sew easy | daily logo design Originally uploaded by filthEdesign This was not a winning design, though I did win the "It's Sew Easy" contest. They originally said NO NEEDLES...and someone commented as such on the finished contest (as if they can't change their minds). The winning design utilized a machine needle, not a hand sewing needle.

lit christmas tree (in place of daily logo design)

Image
photo Originally uploaded by filthEdesign Let's get lit! This day is effed...from start to finish! 1 work train wreck after another...I got a lot done, I helped a lot of people. I discovered my own mistake and am in the process of rectifying it. And now it's been WAY overshadowed by another mistake of magnanimous proportions...and there's not a lot we can do...I'm not saying there maybe weren't things that could have been done earlier, but it's later now, not earlier and man...I'm spent just thinking about it...a nightmare! I hope I get a positive answer in the next 5 or 10 minutes...cross your fingers, say a prayer if you're into that (for the record I'm not) but I might just say one too at this point. In the meantime, enjoy the perfect little xmas tree I look forward to going home to! :)

esquire magazine | daily logo design

Image
esquire magazine Originally uploaded by filthEdesign I submitted 3 designs and they didn't specify in the communication which submittal they chose as a runner-up, but I'm guessing this one. It's the strongest, most transformative design I submitted. It sort of blows a hole in the existing paradigm :)

Esquire Magazine | 99designs logo contest

Exciting news! I entered a contest on 99designs held by an Esquire Magazine representative. The brief stated it was a call for designers to create a transformative logo for the Esquire brand. The winner would get $500 and their logo would be published in the February 2011 print publication. They would also pick runners-up who's designs would appear, with their names, in the permanent online gallery (and on their iPad app). 1 OF MY DESIGNS WAS CHOSEN AS A RUNNER-UP!!!! :) I think this is awesome :) The gallery probably doesn't go up until February 2011, but it's so freaking cool!

protection 1 | daily logo design

Image
protection 1 | daily logo design Originally uploaded by filthEdesign I really liked this for a while...strong, emphasis on the "1", eh... A talented designer friend suggested the "1" started to look like a bracket instead of a 1...he's right...

LOLA GIANT Vendor Profiles: Early Jewelry, Kylie Grater

Image
Kylie Earlene Grater of Early Jewelry draws upon her rural upbringing on the great plains of Kansas as meditations for her natural style and the utilization of materials such as feathers, bone, wood, and leather. Early Jewelry established itself in 2004 as an independently owned and operated design company that is committed to the use and/or reuse of natural, sustainable and recyclable materials; all of which are incorporated into classic, everyday wear and one of a kind jewelry items. The simplicity of rural life, the changing of the weather, and the cycles of planting, and harvesting have all influenced Grater’s approach to creating jewelry. Her close contact with these organic influences, in part, determines her materials. Click here to read more about Kylie Earlene Grater and Early Jewelry at the LOLA Giant Holiday Sale Event

heavenly tart | daily logo design

Image
heavenly tart | daily logo design Originally uploaded by filthEdesign This was meant to represent female bits. I think it was too subtle for the client as they thought it looked too much like an onion :) Might have been stronger in pink, but I was going for a little more leather and whips than the client was :)

LOLA GIANT Vendor Profiles: Molly Murphy

Image
From Kansas to Amsterdam, Molly Murphy’s intricate paintings, graphite and pen and ink drawings, predominantly of the female form or aspects of it, dissect what it is to be a woman. Murphy often delves into the dark spaces which society often chooses to ignore while showing the beauty in everything. “It is a thin line we walk between grotesque and delicate, and so often i go tumbling from one to the other that the notion of duality is not just natural, but necessary.” Click here to read more about Molly Murphy, her artwork and her part in helping to create LOLA Mark your calendars: LOLA Giant Art & Craft Show & Sale - Holiday Shopping: Buy Local, Buy Indie, Buy Handmade

Image
pow! pow! | daily logo design Originally uploaded by filthEdesign It's simple and possibly even tired in the comic book realm, but this was "Pizza On Wheels" - POW :) I thought it was striking and memorable and the generation that goes out to bars and then needs to fill up on grease and carbs would respond to the comic book reference :) ahhh, well...another loser...
