to do and busy and accomplishing some...

Jason helped me by adhering the 3.5x3.5 blocks together, 16 total, for my submission to the Art Guild show, Merging. It's being hung today at the 1109 Gallery. I need to make sure my volunteer time to staff the gallery will really work :) come by and see me 9/18 if you're around. Also getting ready for the first friday art market at the Honeytree Gallery in the Crossroads district in KCMO. I think I have all the work to hang and I'm going to try hanging a string and clothes pinning the art to the line. Was thinking about new pieces for the show, but I'm running out of time and there's still work to do on the frames before I can lace the prints in...there's still the Holiday Art Fair December 4th though so that'll be the plan for that. We got internet at home yesterday for the first time in 4 years :) We watched the Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Louie on hulu and it sort of made the whole thing worth while :) And even though I recognize all the real us

anybody else out there dieting?

I'm not dieting per se, but I'm always thinking about it and how to do what I can when I can and a little more. I've recently discovered a great store brand yogurt at dillons/kroger. It's cheap and tasty. I currently eat 3 or 4 south beach protein bars over the course of the work day and have recently added a yogurt. They have like 3 net carbs and 80 calories...makes me want to switch out my bars for yogurts...but I'd be much more inclined to get sick of yogurt than bars...but maybe for a jump start on weight loss. My son has swim practice at 5am starting in a week and a half...but only 3 days a week. The other 2 days he is in the audition choir and has to be at school at 7am. Audition choir started this week so I started getting up around 6:20 to walk before taking him to school. I also walk at lunch, got back up to 4 miles. So depending on the morning and the motivation, I'm now walking 6-7 miles a day. I do jog about 1/3 to 1/2 but I'm no athlete so

i have a domain! filthedesign.com

I'm very excited :) We've had m0zaic.com for several years fully hosted and then just a redirect on the link, but have only recently discovered that people can't figure out the "0" is a zero, not the letter "o" in caps...does not compute apparently. Reason we did that is because mozaic has been Jason's business name forever and mozaic.com is taken, as is moziacdesign.com. So that left us trying to be clever and given how the kids think it's cool to replace letters with numbers, we changed the o to a zero...awesome, yes...but we are not dealing with the kids when trying to convey things of a business nature and pretty much anyone over the age of 30 doesn't seem to get it...and right now the link redirects to Jason's coroflot portfolio. The main reason for my domain purchase is I work with a woman who is a pretty savvy designer and she has offered to help and teach me! :) I know HTML circa 1999 and I've had livejournal blogs and t

internet in the 21st century...

Work has been so busy I haven't been able to keep up with the "me" stuff...this has it's pros and cons. We are "this" much closer to internet at home - seems crazy that a household with 2 educated adults and a high school kid would be without internet. Our original plan was to get internet when we were closer to finished with our house remodeling. But then layoffs happened, and money got tight, then it got tighter and well...when you're already living close to the edge, it's hard to add things like a new monthly bill for internet in to the budget. Anyway, what's great is I posted an ad on Larryville , a local source like CraigsList sort of...asking if anyone knew how to install phone jacks (we pulled ours when we redid the walls because who has an effing land line anymore?!?! We were certain the world would be totally wified by now). Jason knows how to do most electrical, and could probably have figured out the phone jack, but it's the b

early morning swim practice

So we got the tentative new swim practice for the short course... M-W-Th 5-6:45 in the MORNING (there are also 4 afternoons a week and Saturday practices as well) I always say if I had the will-power, I'd get up mornings and exercise, but will I be able to seize the opportunity? It was nearly 4 weeks after the accident before I was walking somewhat normal again. Before the accident I was jogging/walking 3 to 4 miles a day over my lunch break. But...I really like my sleep...but...this would be a great opportunity to just get up and do it already. I need the exercise...and early morning workouts are the best for weight loss...so just do it already, right? Maybe writing it here will help me with accountability. I have till September 7th to figure out if I'm going to do it...I think I am.

mental...

Not sure if I ever posted the "whole" story about my accident... I was riding my 49cc scooter North on Kentucky. I was in the left lane and there were cars to my right and behind me. I was going probably 30, heading to a swim team dinner to kick off the championship season :) The car to my right apparently forgot it was a 1-way street, looked and saw no one coming towards her so she went for the left at 7th which was directly in to me. Speeds were slower than if she'd been switching lanes, but I still went down pretty hard. Bruises everywhere from the waist down and road rash on the top of my right foot that oozed and burned and part of my cotton shoe had fused with my skin. It was pretty ugly and then my ankle was also twisted. I was wearing a helmet (as I always do) but my glasses torked, hit my face and cut my eyebrow. When I picked myself up off the pavement, my eyebrow was bleeding so badly (as face wounds do) and the blood streamed right into my eye. It hurt a
